Bet you haven’t heard this one…The Obama adminsitration has a goal to produce
80% of the US’s electricity from renewables by 2035. Now that’s aggressive!
It’s starting to look like wind will play a big role in meeting this goal. Consider that the DOE in December 2012
awarded $170 million to seven projects to research and plan for offshore developments and that the US has just secured funding for the first offshore wind farm in Nantucket.
Over 50% of the US population lives near coastal area where offshore wind could be produced and estimated capacity of US offshore wind is over 4 times the amount of electricity produced by the country’s traditional power plants.
